Midland to Host the 18th Annual International Rocket Engineering Competition

Big news for Midland, Texas! Visit Midland and the Midland Chamber of Commerce have announced that our city has been selected as the host for the 18th Annual International Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC), taking place June 9-14, 2025.

Hosted by the Experimental Sounding Rocket Association, this is the world’s largest collegiate rocket engineering competition, bringing teams from around the globe to showcase cutting-edge aerospace innovation. Beyond the excitement, the event is projected to bring $5M to $7M in economic impact to the Permian Basin, filling up to 9,600 hotel room nights and giving a major boost to local businesses, restaurants, and hotels.

This is a huge win for Midland, further positioning our city as a hub for innovation and high-tech development in aerospace. Stay tuned for more details as we get closer to lift-off! 🚀
